CLIENT ASSIGNMENT: Partnership Development and Transformational Change
Duration: 2 Years
Location: Derby, Derbyshire
EiB Role: Management Consultants
Project Overview:
EiB led the procurement project to help Derby City Council in the selection of a private sector partner, to work with the Council in delivering its Highways Maintenance Services. Following the selection of Carillion Highways Services as the Council’s partner, EiB were commissioned to work with the new Public Private Partnership (PPP), DerbyRoads to embed a robust and effective partnership based relationship. This project involved us in working closely with DerbyRoads to design, develop and embed a comprehensive transformational change programme.
We worked with the Partnership’s management team to create a Transformational Route Map. This map set out the partnerships vision and aspirations for the next 5 years, including the cultural and organisational changes; and process improvements that would need to take place in order to achieve their vision. The route map defined the key workstreams that would drive the required transformation; as well as the individual improvement projects that would embed change. Each project was underpinned by a benefit card that summarised the resources committed to its delivery and the benefits, both financial and non financial, which would be delivered if the project was a success. This provided the Board and Management team with the framework against which progress and impact can be measured.
We have worked extensively with the Board, Management Team and individual managers to implement and support the delivery of the route map. This has involved providing a mix of training, mentoring and coaching. In particular, we have supported DerbyRoads in:
Project Outcomes/Impact:
1. Cashable savings in excess of £300,000;
2. Significant improvement in staff satisfaction levels over 12 months;
3. 82% of managers assessed as reflecting the values of DerbyRoads after 2 years.
