EiB Role:

Set up a Managed Training and Vendor Management Service

Project Overview:

Our remit was to set up a Managed Training and Vendor Management Service. This high profile training provider successfully acquired a training contract from a large international IT outsourcing company. Part of the contract specification was to provide a managed training service for the technical aspects of personnel development plans for engineers.

The project involved:

A number of key business account management interventions and consultations took place resulting in the development and Implementation of the new managed training service processes and in particular the much needed new reporting suite to show clear unambiguous data pertaining to the provision of training.

An internal training programme was developed to support the new ways of working and subsequent reporting of outcomes. The project involved significant management interventions of internal resources in order to deliver the created business solution.

We achieved this by:

  • Using our buying power to obtain bigger discounts from training suppliers
  • Providing automated workflow processes for requesting and approval, wait listing, booking, joining instructions and delegate feedback
  • Compiling all the relevant information into a single repository so that it was easy to access and report on  KPIs
  • Allocating all supplier costs to the appropriate cost centres with full procurement approvals
  • Making it easier to control and manage a definitive list of approved/ preferred suppliers
  • Ensuring that the Learning and development function achieved value for money from training suppliers
  • Establishing a slick centralised process for requesting and approving training
  • Developing enhanced reporting to track key financials and overall training activity with board level summaries using a dashboard communication style
  • Elimination of spend on non-approved training suppliers
  • Reduced costs of processing supplier invoices

Project Outcomes/Impact:

  1. Ability to report to the board exactly what they were getting for their money.
