Herefordshire Council commission EiB to develop Performance Management Framework

Herefordshire Council’s Children and Young People’s Directorate have commissioned EiB to develop a Performance Management Framework to enable it to measure the impact, both quantitatively and qualitatively, of the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) within the County.

Findings from the research into the impact of a council’s Audit Commission (AC) rating and election results has recently been published.

Researchers from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) measured election results in upper-tier councils over a six-year-period (2001-7) against their ratings under the AC's Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) and found that poor performance does have an adverse impact on voting at local elections.

PFI Procurement Heads to Court

The first project supported by the Government's Infrastructure Finance Unit, the £3.8 billion Greater Manchester waste PFI, is heading to the Courts. This is the most recent example of an unsuccessful bidder seeking compensation for their failure to secure a tender.
