Hester Ormiston

Associate Consultant

Hester is a very experienced consultant with extensive experience in public sector social care. Prior to becoming a consultant, she was an experienced and effective senior manager with a generic social work background in a large inner city, London Boroughs, a Metropolitan District and a large county.  Her most recent employment was in SSI, both as an inspector and policy link between North West Social Services Departments and the Department of Health.  Her work in SSI has contributed to current Government policy on Mental Health, Learning Disability, and Leaving Care Services.

In particular, Hester is actively involved in delivering development and review services for health and social care agencies. She is currently a reference group member of CSIP and has led seven Joint Reviews and two Corporate Performance Assessments for the Audit Commission. Other pieces of work include reviews of services, implementation of improvement plans, coaching and investigation of stage three complaints.

She also has considerable experience of chairing Serious Case Reviews for adult and child care services; reviewing childcare and adult services in preparation for inspection as well as in developing client services and performance management in these service areas.  Hester works across the UK having been involved in projects for Welsh Counties, the Welsh Assembly and more recently, she has undertaken project work in Scotland.

Hester is experienced at facilitation, working with small and large groups, as well as regularly acting as a speaker at regional and national conferences. She is a mentor qualified to Masters Degree level with experience of mentoring managers in the public, private and third sectors.

Outside work Hester is an avid supporter of Sale Rugby Club and enjoys watching all levels of the game.  She is also a keen bird lover and actively encourages as wide a selection of birds as possible into her garden where she enjoys spending much of her time.
